Mac, Chairman of the BFoMC 2015 went to the Town Hall Friday Night and handed over Cheques for over Thirty Two Grand to charities on behalf of the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling committee.
Charities included (the primary charity) The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (£22k) The Bike Experience (5k) and local charities including OOSO , 1460 Squadron Air Cadets, Royal British Legion, Rotarians and Round table got the remaining 5k between them for helping out on the day – not a small feat considering the weight of numbers attending on the day (estimated at over 20,000). There needs mentioning also those who helped on the day who either wanted no recognition – or who donated their “fee” back to their charity of choice – like the guys and gals from RAF Croughton who worked all weekend and donated their ‘wages’ of £500 back to the Air Ambulance, The ladies and gents at the Lids and Leathers stall who not only donated their ‘wages’ but also raised an additional £1000 to go into the pot.
Star of the day though goes to Paul. A quiet unassuming man who turned up early in the morning and worked alone all day doing the job no one wants or even believes to be that essential. He was meant to have a team of six to help him but ended up grafting alone. By the end of the day there was not even a fag butt left where 20 thousand people had smoked, eaten, drunk and dropped all manner of detritus across the town. He left without announcement having filled all ten industrial sized bins with Rubbish – and didn’t want a penny! When we insisted he took something away – he donated his money to Catherine House Hospice – What a star! If we could find another 250 ‘Pauls’ imagine what we could achieve!
