Sounds a bit like “Hammer Time” but we’re a bit (just) more subtle.
We’ve had a good look over the Yamaharley frame in it’s current state and have concluded that it would be a whole lot simpler (and probably safer in the long run) to just cut off what the previous owner had “welded” on and replace it all with new 32mm, 3mm wall CDS tube – so off to ‘Ozzys’ (Wood Burcote – near Towcester) we popped and ordered (possibly) more than we need so we can cover this project and probably a fair bit of Heisenburgs next masterpiece (to be announced).
Picked up these lovely heavy duty axle plates on line which accommodate the existing Yamaha rear axle so a new longer axle won’t be needed (which we’d have to do if we used the current Harley set up).
As the rear end will be a 180 or 190 set up, the rear mudguard (not fender) will either be junked or split in two and widened.
Bought a sheet of 5mm aluminium (note not allooominum) which will be cut out and shaped for a seat.
