Finally got started on the frame for my entry in to this years Brackley festival of motorcycling, got a good couple of months to complete the project so no pressure there…, Mac’s is almots done, just waiting for it to return from the ‘jewel embedder’ with a spattering of precious stones glued all over it to ‘give it the edge’ whatever that means.
Here’s a picture before the frame was started, I got the paper form a draw in Mac’s workshop, it was labeled ‘Mac’s macho-macho draw’. Tring to get an idea on the size of the bike so added a wheel and got playing with a sharpie..
Knocked up a pair of axle plates
Fitted them to the jig
Started bending tube and fixing it to the headstock we made earlier.
Joined the pipes up to the axle plates, staring to look like a motorcycle, kind of….if you squint.
Engine mounts done, well bottom mounts..
Final brace tube fitted, need to make a top engine mount first and then I guess we should start the petrol tank, or as Macly-davidson calls it…a gas tank
Having been nearly side swiped on the way to work by some pond life that thought it unnecessary to scrape the ice off the side windows of their car before pulling out of a side junction, Mac (once settled by a nice hot cuppa) thought of accessories for his bike to help prevent such near misses.
Whilst browsing one of our fellow Motorcycle Blog Sites Mac found this little Beauty so is currently looking into their performance figures ………… she may want to wrap up a bit though before she hits Brackley Market Place at 5 in the morning!!
I saw a Sportster – sporting one of these lovely classic air filters parked up in town the other day – then as luck would have it I bid on a box of Harley bits on evilbay (included heat shields, a pop up tank cap and grips) including one of these little beauties (Valued at over£50) …… and won the lot for £18 – it’s worth taking a punt on stuff folk don’t know what it’s for – as most want to know what model, year and inside leg measurement it is before they’ll risk a bid.
So off I pop to NVT at Northampton to pick up a fitting kit and bob’s ya mums brother!!
I surprise myself sometimes, Fitted a 1/2 inch offset front sprocket (from NVT) in place of the pulley and I’m damned if it didn’t marry up perfect in line with the FZR rear wheel. Put the old chain on to make sure everything clears…… lovely!
Never one to make life easy for himself – Heisenburg’s power plant of choice for his next project is a Royal Enfield………. but not a new one – oh no, one it appears that has spent the last 60+ years at the bottom of a shed / garden / pond.
Once sufficient ‘ Abbotts’ (fuel of choice in the Scavenger shed) had been consumed and confidence raised it was time to break open the beast to see what lay inside.
More (much more) to follow!
Saw this on the Chopper Culture Blog …. how cool? – note the ‘bear trap’ cycle footpegs? Seen these anywhere else before????
Loved his outlook on life!
22,000 visitors to this site……………….. what’s going on?
All you folk visiting but the only comments we seem to be getting are from faceless corporate administrators trying to flog us something!
Do not fear us……………. if you’ve got a tasty home build – show it off. If You’ve a comment to make, an idea to share or just got a funny photo (sorry no cats playing the piano- got to be bike related) comment on one of the posts and who knows ……. we might see just how many shed builders there are out there(?)
Just found this whilst checking out the ‘Rabalder’ Site. It’s become a morning ritual……. Breccie , switch on the lap top and see what the Rogues and Rabalder are up to.
These sites give you some great ideas and an unpretentious view of the 2% life style ….. Keep it up Guys!
Got a sign made up for the BFoM this year. Hope to have half a dozen bikes there.
