Ideas for next project

$_1

Found this whilst flicking through evilbay. Not sure about the bars but loving the weekend luggage on the bike in the background!

Mac, Chairman of the BFoMC 2015 went to the Town Hall Friday Night and handed over Cheques for over Thirty Two Grand to charities on behalf of the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling committee.

Charities included (the primary charity) The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (£22k) The Bike Experience (5k) and local charities including OOSO , 1460 Squadron Air Cadets, Royal British Legion, Rotarians and Round table got the remaining 5k between them for helping out on the day – not a small feat considering the weight of numbers attending on the day (estimated at over 20,000). There needs mentioning also those who helped on the day who either wanted no recognition – or who donated their “fee” back to their charity of choice – like the guys and gals from RAF Croughton who worked all weekend and donated their ‘wages’ of £500 back to the Air Ambulance, The ladies and gents at the Lids and Leathers  stall who not only donated their ‘wages’ but also raised an additional £1000 to go into the pot.

Star of the day though goes to Paul. A quiet unassuming man who turned up early in the morning and worked alone all day doing the job no one wants or even believes to be that essential. He was meant to have a team of six to help him but ended up grafting alone. By the end of the day there was not even a fag butt left where 20 thousand people had smoked, eaten, drunk and dropped all manner of detritus across the town. He left without announcement having filled all ten industrial sized bins with Rubbish – and didn’t want a penny! When we insisted he took something away – he donated his money to Catherine House Hospice – What a star! If we could find another 250 ‘Pauls’ imagine what we could achieve!

Go on then!

Well it’s done!

Russ has opened up the site for your comments and posts. Evidently all you need to do is enter a name and a password then it’s down to one of us to moderate the posts (evidently this filters out the thousands of ads for Viagra, penis enlargement clinics and PPI – not sure which is more unwelcome).

Not sure how this’ll pan out but we’ll give it a whirl!  So…….. Over to you guys and gals!

New ‘Daryl Bike’

Daryl ……… got to be one of the best ‘anti-heroes’ in  recent years!

Good taste in bikes , got the requisite skills to survive a zombie apocalypse and impeccably dressed!

Daryls bike 2

Hats off to the man – who in the middle of a Zombie apocalypse has managed to ‘throw together’  his new zombie stomper  from a few parts scavenged and chucked in a garage –  for him to glue together over a  weekend

All jokes aside ….. think you’ll agree – it’s a pretty tasty motor(?)

It’s Spanner time

Sounds a bit like “Hammer Time”  but we’re a bit (just) more subtle.

We’ve had a good look over the Yamaharley frame in it’s current state and have concluded that it would be a whole lot simpler  (and probably safer in the long run) to just cut off what the previous owner had “welded” on and replace it all with new 32mm, 3mm wall CDS tube – so off to ‘Ozzys’  (Wood Burcote – near Towcester) we popped and ordered (possibly) more than we need so we can cover this project and probably a fair bit of Heisenburgs next masterpiece (to be announced).

Picked up these lovely heavy duty axle plates on line which accommodate the existing Yamaha rear axle so a new longer axle  won’t be needed (which we’d have to do if we used the current Harley set up).

006

As the rear end will be a 180 or 190 set up, the rear mudguard (not fender) will either be junked or split in two and widened.

007

Bought a sheet of 5mm aluminium (note not allooominum) which will be cut out and shaped for a seat.

It’s Time (?)

Well …………………. with over 6100 visitors to the site (probably the same  six strange individuals sat in a darkened room logging on over and over again) we’ve decided that perhaps it’s time to start inviting some of you budding Scavengers out  there to contribute to the site.

We will be talking to Russ – Our Tech guy to let him totally confuse us as to how to do this in the very near future.

Anyway – this is going to be your chance to share your ideas, show off your talents  and let others letch at your home builds……………….. Only rule is……………………..  it’s got to be  true  to the Scavenger way of thinking – the bikes have to be  of your own design, built in your shed with your mates  and with your own tools – with love and creativity – from parts begged, borrowed or loaned for an indefinite period.

No bling  (unless you happen to own a chroming facility in your shed and your  best mate happens to be Arlen Ness) –  no bikes that have had pound notes thrown at them  from fifty yards- just honest home engineered bikes – we will want piccies of ground up builds as proof!

You up for it??

Watch this space!

Yester-year Cool

We went to the “Village at War” event at Stoke Bruene  this weekend – loads of folk dressed up in period clothing / uniforms with a whole load of WW2 vehicles and weapons (with a fly over included).

Music, Dancing, the random firing of large calibre artillery ….. great day had by all. Best for us were a number of dispatch bikes like the few BSA’s and this Enfield. Got to thinking about future projects!!

Rude food

Not sure what’s going on in Mac and Sarahs garden when the sun goes down but the fruit  and veg are having a ball!

Shiny bits

Mac sent a load of scabby bits from the Yamaharley project off to the blasters to clean and paint in satin black.

Included in the pile were the fake air scoops off the ‘runaround’ which had an unfortunate liaison with a dripping master cylinder.

Mac  uses BBC (Banbury Blast Cleaning) on the Welsh lane near Helmdon, great bunch of blokes (when you get a word in amongst their p#ss taking) who do a tidy job and don’t take the mickey when it comes to the bill.

Time to get the spanners out – then once the front end is assembled it’s off to Heisenburgs shed to marry it up with the frame to get the geometry right.

Heisenburgs been a bit poorly of late – put his back out unloading a trailer  -although rumours are  that he was actually  lifting a particularly substantial pie . He’s been to see the witch doctor and is getting better – the poor thing!!

Front end nearly assembled – no point  in tightening anything up yet as the yolks will need modding to fit the Harley neck. Discs and lines are next  on the to do list (as they’re so expensive) cause the old ones are knackered.

005

May look to buck the trend and fit these ‘street fighter’ headlights.

Will cover the upper fork legs with a tube which the headlight mounts will get welded to and utilise the indicators as mounting bolts.  This Bike will have to start life with all the bells and whistles as in all probability it’ll have to go through the whole SVA process as the previous owner of the frame kept the frame number and V5.
